How online shoe repairs work
Not sure which option? Pick your best guess
Every pair of shoes gets checked by a cobbler when it arrives. If what you booked isn't quite right, we'll be in touch before we start any work. You'll never pay for the wrong repair.
No quote form. No waiting for a reply. Just book it and send it.
What happens at the workshop
Your shoes are checked over on arrival by one of our cobblers. We confirm the repair matches what you booked, then get to work. Shane started repairing shoes in 1998 and opened this workshop in 2000. Every repair is done right here at 44 Grey Street, Tauranga. Nothing gets sent offshore or farmed out.
When the work is done, your shoes are packed up and sent back with NZ Post. You'll get an email with your tracking number the moment they leave the workshop. Return courier is a flat $9, no matter where you are in New Zealand.

RM Williams resole | Birkenstock resole | All repairs
How RM Williams repairs work online
The RM Williams resole is one of our most common repairs. You book it the same way as anything else: find the resole on our site, pick the option that looks right, and check out. Not sure which one? Pick your best guess. We check every pair on arrival and sort it from there.
What we check when your boots arrive
Once your boots reach the workshop, we send a quick email to let you know they've arrived safely. Then they go on the bench for a proper look over. This is where a resole turns into real care. We check:
- Heels, soles and toe tips
- Leather uppers, for cracks, creasing or damage
- Heel liners and back seam, for wear
- Elastic gussets
- Interior linings, including the toe area
- Insoles
- Pull loops
We check the welt too, so we can tell you whether your boots are worth the spend or whether they've reached the end of the road. If a pair should be retired, we'll say so before you spend a cent on them.
If your boots need more or less than you booked
If that's the case, we email you first. You pay the difference or take a refund. If they're a genuine write-off, we'll let you know. You can have them couriered back for the flat $9 with a full refund on the repair. Or donate them to us for parts and video and we'll refund the courier too. If you donate them, the boots stay with us, but every dollar comes back to you.
Turnaround and getting them back
Your boots go into our work pattern and we aim to have them finished within three working days. Once they're done we give them a polish, wrap them up, and put them back on the courier to you. You'll get an email when they're finished, and another with your tracking number the moment they leave the workshop.
If anything's not right
When your boots arrive, check them over and wear them. If anything isn't right, email us straight away and we'll sort it. Our work is guaranteed for 197 days, but if something gives you trouble a year down the track, we would still much rather hear about it than not.
Your return courier ticket
Your boots come back with a reusable courier satchel, with a return ticket on it. Any future repair, return or issue can come straight back to us in it. Pass it to a mate if you like. That way their first repair travels to us free.
How Birkenstock repairs work online
Birkenstock resoles are one of the most common repairs we do. Birkenstock don't offer a resole themselves, so when your sandals wear down, we're the ones who bring them back. You book the same way as anything else: find the resole on our site, pick the option that looks right, and check out. Not sure which one? Pick your best guess. We check every pair on arrival and sort it from there.
What we check when your Birkenstocks arrive
Once your Birkenstocks reach the workshop, we send a quick email to let you know they've arrived safely. Then they go on the bench for a proper look over. We check:
- Cork around the front straps, where the straps meet the cork, for missing chunks or cracks
- Footbed you stand on, the suede liner, for cracks or holes
- Cork at the back, especially the worn corner where the heel digs in
- Cork at the front, which can look fine until you flex it and find cracks underneath
- Straps, for tears or cuts
- Buckles, to make sure they're working and holding firm
The front cork is the sneaky one. It often looks okay on the surface, but peel it back a little and the cracks show. From there it's either a glue up or a new footbed, and we'll tell you which before we do anything.

A courier bag or any sturdy box is fine. No need for anything fancy.
